Mr. Jacob Farver died in Ashton, Illinois on the 20th of January (1883), aged 79 years. He was born in this county in 1804 and was the father of thirteen children, all of whom survive him but one. Mr. Farver removed from this county to Ashton in 1879.

(Columbia Corners, Tuscola County, Michigan) Frederick Farver, an old pioneer resident of the township died Friday evening October 3, 1913 at his home, Columbia Corners, (Michigan). Mr. Farver came to the township from Bloomsburg, Columbia Co. Penna., when he was 29 years of age and bought two wild 80's at the Corners. He cut the first tree for the clearing at that corner where Bracks store afterwards stood. From the time Mr. Farver came to that place, he has never been away from home but one night and could count on his hand the number of meals he had taken at another table. he was always an able bodied man until feebleness of old age came upon him and was never confined to his bed all day until the Sunday previous to his death when he was striken with a stroke of paralysis. He leaves his aged wife with four sons and two daughters, Harlow of Fairgrove, Augustus of this place(Unionville) Bert of Columbia Corners and Will who resides on the homestead. Hattie deceased and Libbie, Mrss Frank Heurling, of St. Louis, Michigan. The funeral occurred Monday afternoon, the four sons and Jas Russell and Chas. Goldenstein acting as pall bearers. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Packard of Flint, Michigan and William Hutchins and Mr. and Mrs. Percy Parker of Bay City, Michigan were present for the funeral.

ROSANNA (FARVER) PYATT

Roseanna Farver was born in Columbia Co. Pa Jan 23, 1830 and died near Ashton Sept 20, 1904 aged 74 years 7 months and 28 days. In 1856 she was united in marriage with Jacob Pyatt, of her own place, with whom she was permitted to live in happy marital bonds until 1876 when by death they were separated.

Three children were born to them, two sons and one daughter. But on of them remains, a son, Boyd Pyatt, with whom has been her home. The other son and daughter died in childhood.

Mrs. Pyatt was one of a large family of children, twelve in all of whom ten yet remain, nine brothers and one sister of the former, six reside distant from here. Those living here are: Theodore of Franklin Grove, Abraham Lloyd, and Mrs. Almira Howey of Ashton.

In Pennsylvania, Mrs Pyatt was a member of the Evangelical Church, but on coming to Illinois in 1880 joined the Presbyterian church from which the funeral was held on Friday morning, Rev. J.R. Hamilton, officiating.

Another Early Settler Called from the Toils of Life

Abraham H Farver died at his home in this city yesterday afternoon at 1:45 o'clock after an illness of a little over 24 hours duration. His death comes as a shock to his friends as he has apparently been well and has been around and able to attend to his business. he was taken seriously ill Tuesday morning at ten o'clock and death resulted from heart trouble.

Mr. Farver had just reached the 78th milestone of his life, yesterday having been his birthday. Mr. Farver, who was one of a large family of children, was born Sept. 21, 1832 in Columbia Co. Pa. he lived in his native state until 31 years of age, when he came to Illinois in 1863. He first went to Carroll Co. and in a short time located in Lee Co. For 35 years he owned and farmed the place now owned by Henry Schnell.

Mr. Farver was united in marriage with Miss Mary Jane Leidy May 22, 1866 and to them have been born five sons, one of whom died in infancy. Mr. Farver is survived by his wife and four sons; Henry and Roy of Havelock, Iowa and Clarence and Ernest of Ocheydan, Iowa. Mr. Farver is also survived by his brothers Theodore of Franklin Grove and Lloyd of Ashton.

Mr. Farver retired from Active live 7 or 8 years ago and moved to this city. Only two weeks ago he and his wife returned from a business trip and visit with their sons in Iowa. They had contemplated a trip to Michigan this week to visit relatives and this was postponed Sunday. The sad news has been telegraphed the sons in Iowa who are expected to arrive here this morning, when the funeral arrangements will be made.

Theodore W. Farver, father of Mayor J.B. Farver of this city, committed suicide at his home in Franklin Grove by hanging Sunday morning. Mr. Farver had not been in the best of health, but his family had no intimation that he was brooding over any trouble. He disappeared after breakfast and when Mrs. Farver noticed that he did not return home, started to hunt for him and found him hanging by a short piece of clothesline in the barn.

Mr. Farver was born in Columbia County, Pennsylvania, April 20, 1844, and passed 75 years of age. When the Civil War broke out Mr. Farver enlisted in Co. F 2nd Regiment of Heavy Artillery in his home state and served until the close of the war.

Mr. Farver was united in marriage with Miss Sarah Ziegler November 15, 1866 and last fall celebrated their golden wedding anniversary. They came west and settled in Franklin Grove 41 years age. For thirty years he was janitor of the camp meeting grounds and also the Methodist Church of that village.

Eight children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Farver--six of whom, with the sorrowing wife, morn his death; These surviving were Bert, of Batavia; Harry, of Fairchilds, Wisconsin; Boyd, of Ashton; Frank, of Mitchell, So. Dakota; Calvin, of Batavia; and Mrs Emma Evans, State Center, Ia; One Daughter and one son preceded the father in death. There is also one foster daughter, Miss May Fowler.

Funeral services were held yesterday afternoon, at one-thirty from the late home, conducted by Rev. Fred A. Graham of this city. Internment was in Franklin Grove Cemetery."

A ledger started, in 1903 of the Ashton Cemetery shows that Theodore Farver owned Lot #5 Sec 26 and buried N.M. Farver 1877, then sold the lot to Mrs Joe Howey, his sister Elmyra. This was the date of Noah Milton's death. According to his mother's obit, N.M. Farver died age 4 yrs, making the 1877 tombstone date his death date. Names and dates were obtained from his Civil War pension papers and Noah Milton from cemetery records and pension papers.

The following obituary notice from the Franklyn Grove, (Ill.) Reporter of July 24 will be of interest to the many friends of Mrs. Farver in this community.

Sarah Margaret Drake was born in Columbia Co., Pa., July 17, 1845, and died in Franklin Grove, Ill., July 17, 1919, age 74 years.

She grew to womanhood in her native state. She was married to Daniel Zigler, January 31, 1861, to which union there was born two children, Emma, now Mrs. Evans of State Center, Iowa; and John, who died in infancy. Daniel Zigler, her husband, died February 23, 1864. On November 15, 1866, she was married to Theodore Farver, with whom she lived more than 51 years. To this union there were born six boys and one girl. The children who survive her are: Mrs. Emma Evans, of State Center, Iowa; Bert and Calvin of Batavia, Ill., Harry, of Fairchild, Wis.; Boyd, of Ashton, Ill.; and Frank of Mitchell, S.D., all of whom were in attendance at the funeral. The other boy, Milton, died at the age of four, and the other daughter, Della, passed away five years ago.

Besides her own family, she had time and opportunity to care for from her infancy another girl, now Mrs. May Gonnerman, who was the deceased's constant companion until death. Deceased was one of a family of thirteen, all of whom, save one, John Drake, of Burwick, Pa., have preceded her in death. Besides the brother and the children who survive, are: 22 grand-children and 6 great grand-children.

Mr. and Mrs. Farver came to Illinois in 1876, and made their home at Franklin Grove until the dates of their deaths, having lived in their present home since 1877. Many years ago, Mrs. Farver became a member of the Methodist church and was a member of the local church at the time of her death.

The funeral of the deceased was conducted at the late home Sunday afternoon, the Methodist pastor, Rev. W. E. Kern, officiating. Interment was made in the local cemetery.

Well Known Berwick Resident Victim of Illiness Due to Old Age

George A Farver, a veteran of the Civil War and a widely known resident died yesterday at his house on Vine street. Discases incident to his advanced age of 81 years was the cause of death that occurred at 1:30 o'clock.

Mr. Farver was born in Jackson township April 22, 1838 and was a son of Jacob and Rachel Farver. His paternal grandfather was a pioneer of Columbia county, Jacob Farver, the son of George, was born in Jackson township and followed in his father's vocation of farming.

Geo. Farver, son of Jacob Farver, attended the public schools of Jackson township. At the outbreak of the Civil War, he enlisted in Co. F. 2nd Reg. Renna Heavy Artillery under Capt. William M McClure in which he was enrolled Dec. 25, 1861 for three years. He was discharged January 1, 1864 at Fort Lincoln, District of Columbia, and the next day re-enlisted for three years in the same company, then under Capt. George W Webb. He was discharged Jan. 29, 1866 at City Point, Va, after having participated in numerous engagements including Petersburg, Fort Harrison, Wilderness and Cold Harbor.

On his return to the pursuits of peace he again located in Columbia county and in 1886 came to Berwick. He was for a long period in the employ of the American Car and Foundry but for a number of years has been living a retired life. Mr. Farver is a member of the First M.E. church. On November 20, 1866, Mr. Farver was married to Maria Catherine Miller, a native of Mount Pleasant township and six children were born to this union. Orvis O., born September 19, 1868, a resident of Berwick who married Harriet Shultz and has three children, George J, Mary C and Catherine; Albert A., born October 21, 1870, now a resident of Atchinson, Kan., is married and has two children, Martha and Florence; George Gaylord, born December 31, 1872, of Berwick, married Cora Harvey and the children are Lloyd V., Helford and Bradford, twins, and Martha; Eva J born May 5, 1875 is the wife of Frank A Dill of Berwick and the mother of Lewis Dill of Berwick. Children are Gaylord, Harriet, myrtle, Charles and Luther; Edward E. born Oct. 22, 1877 is a resident of Berwick; Cora E., born Aug. 27, 1880 is the widow of W. Thompson of Berwick and has one child, Allen.

Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon from his ? home at 349 Vine street. Interment will be made in Pine Grove cemetery.

Pneumonia caused the death Sunday of Mrs. George Farver, one of Berwick's oldest citizens. Mrs. Farver's illness dates back to three years. She was aged 75 years. Her husband and six children survive. Orvis, Gaylord, Mrs. Frank Dill of town, Albert of Atchinson, KS, and Edward at home. Funeral services will be held Thursday. Rev. Ake? will officiate. Interment will be made in Pine Grove cemetery.

Mrs. Mary J. Farver, widow of the late Abraham H. Farver, died in her home in this city Sunday noon after a rather short illness, although having been in feeble health for quite a time. Mr Farver preceded her to the great beyond just eleven days less than a year ago.

Mary Jane Leidy was born in Hemlock Township, Columbia Co. Pa Feb. 18, 1838 and at the time of her death was 73 years six months 22 days old. The deceased came west in 1856 at the age of 18 years and settled in Nachusa. On the 22nd of May 1866 she was united in marriage with A.H.Farver and to this union was born 5 sons - one of whom died in infancy. Those who are left to morn are Henry of Burns, Wyoming, who was here recently on a visit; Clarence and Ernest of Ocheydan, Iowa; and Roy who had lived with and cared for his mother since the death of Mr Farver a year ago. Mrs Farver is also survived by one sister, Mrs H.B. Vanderslice of Buchanan, Michigan; and one brother, J.G. Leidy of Carthage, Missouri. The Farver family lived for 35 years on the farm west of town now owned by Henry Schnell and moved to the city 7 or 8 years ago, where both were highly respected citizens. The funeral services were held yesterday afternoon at 3:30 from the Presbyterian Church, Rev. Alexander English, officiating. Internment was made in the Ashton Cemetery beside the remains of her husband.

AUGUSTUS FARVER DIES OF HEART TROUBLE FRIDAY
A Lifelong Resident of Columbia Township

Augustus Farver, age 72 years, died early Friday morning, October 16, at the Mayville Hospital where he was taken Wednesday from the Oscar Uhl home where he had been staying for the past nine months.

Mr. Farver was the second son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred'k Farver early pioneers of this township and he is survived by three brothers, William Farver of Emerald Isle, Quanicassee, Bert Farver of Columbia Corners, and Harlow Farver of Fairgrove.

He married Julia Fittinger, May 4, 1886. He was the father of thirteen children, two dying in infancy. The eleven living members of his family are, Anna, Mrs. Daniel Buchholz of 1120 11th St., Bay City; William of Portland, Oregon; Mary, Mrs. M. Palmer, 111 Durand St., Jackson; Laura, Mrs. Carl Eckfeld, and the Misses Grace and Edna Farver, 12619 Sorrento, Roy Farver and Lillie, Mrs. Bryan Johnson, all of Detroit; Elsie, Mrs. Wm. Jackson of Flint; Arthur Farver of Saginaw; and Edward of Ionia.

Mr. Farver was an honorable, industrious man with no bad habits. he was trained to no trade or profession but was a general all around day laborer, always ready to help his fellow neighbor and earn an honest dollar. He was well liked by those for whom he worked.

Mr. Farver had been in poor health for some time, but had been around until within a few days of his death. He attended the funeral of his old friend, Mr. Ainsworth, September 30, and visited his son in Saginaw the following week.

His funeral occurred Sunday at 1:00 o'clock at the Moravian church, Rev. Scheel officiating. Burial was in Columbia cemetery. The pallbearers were: Messrs. Wm. Krull, Charles Goldenstein, Fred Hen?el, George Colling, James Campbell, and Edwin Eckfeld.

The relatives from out state who were here for the funeral were, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Farver and children and Mr. and Mrs. Byran Johnson and children of Detroit; Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Farver and children of Saginaw; Mrs. Mary Palmer of Jackson; Mrs. W. Jackson, Mr. and Mrs. Clare Farver and family, and Mr. Benjamin Farver and family of Flint; Mrs. Ernest Reid of East Dayton; Harlow Farver of Fairgrove, and Will Farver of Quanicassee.

Melvin "Mel" DeLoss Farver, 86, of Fort Collins, died December 31, 2009 at home.

Mr. Farver was born August 7, 1923 in Burns, Wyoming to Bud and Bernice Farver.
Mel married Phyllis "Phil" Iverson on June 4, 1949 in Lake Mills, Iowa.

Mr. Farver worked for Phillips Petroleum Company for 18 years, was Vice President for Pat Griffin Company for 18 years and then owned and operated Farver's Flowers for 10 years before retiring. He loved to make pickles and jams, enjoyed flowers, and arts and craft projects. He also loved to bowl, play cards and argue.

Survivors include his wife, Phyllis "Phil"; sons, Steven (Jill) Farver, Craig (Virginia) Farver of Fort Collins; grandchildren, Lee Farver of Denver, Colorado, Morgan Farver of Fort Collins and one great-grandchild, Pryce Wyatt of Fort Collins.

Preceding Mel in death are Parents, Bud and Bernice; and grandson, Richard Farver.

A Memorial Service will be held at First United Methodist Church on Wednesday at 2:00 p.m.

FRANCES FARVER

Frances Farver, 71, of Murphy died Sunday (Aug. 7, 2005) in a Murphy medical center. A native of Detroit, MI, she had been living in Murphy for the past seven years. She was the daughter of Joseph Kolet of Melvindale, MI and the late Catherine Varga Kolet and the wife of the late Lyle Eugene Farver, who died Oct. 30, 2000. She was co-owner and operator of Farver Saw Mill in Jonesboro, MI and was a member of the Saint William Catholic Church.

Surviving, in addition to her father, are a daughter, Ethel Clark of Holt, MI; a son, Robert Farver of Murphy; a brother, Joseph Kolet of Woodhaven, MI; and three grandchildren, Charlene Farver, Thomas Farver, and Ashley Clark.

Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM Thursday (Aug. 11) in the Saint William Catholic Church with Father George Kloster officiating. Burial in Simonds Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers: Steve Crawford, Sam Dillard, Tim Bergeron, Keith Williams, Dan Billsby, and Shane Belt.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 Wednesday evening at the Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy.

JUNCTION CITY - The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday, March 9, at First Christian Church in Junction City for Audrey Farver of Junction City [Lane Co, Oregon]. She died March 6 of age-related causes at age 92.

Farver was born April 16, 1914, in Junction City to Jesse and Alice Hayes Harper. She married Robert Farver on Dec. 27, 1947, in Eugene. He died Sept. 3, 1998.

She served in the Army as a dietitian in the 316th Station Hospital, attaining the rank of captain. She also worked as a dietitian in New York and later at Grand View Care Center.

Survivors include two daughters, Roslyn Burch of Junction City and Roberta Lyon of Milton-Freewater; four sons, Chuck, Eugene, Stanley and Melvin, all of Junction City; 16 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. A daughter, Nancy, died previously.

Arrangements by Murphy-Musgrove Funeral Home in Junction City. Remembrances to the Eugene Mission or the Junction City Historical Society.

MRS. JULIA FARVER BURIED MOTHER'S DAY
Mother of Thirteen Children Born in Columbia Township
(Tuscola County, Michigan)

Sunday, May 9, [1937] Mother's Day, seemed an exceptionally fitting time for the funeral of Miss Julia Farver, a woman who had borne thirteen children. Mrs. Farver died Wednesday, May 5, 1937, on the fifty-first anniversary of her marriage to Augustus Farver, a son of a pioneer family of this township.

Julia Fittinger, born a twin, October 6, 1870, to Mr. and Mrs. Louis H. Fittinger, Sr., at Fairhaven, St. Clair County, one of twelve children brought up in a home established in this township when the deceased was five years old. Her twin sister, Mary, Mrs. Metetsl?-Ammon died two years ago.

When she was less than sixteen years of age she was married to Augustus Farver. Of her thirteen children eleven survive, two having died when but a few days old. The surviving children are, Mrs. Dan'l Buchholz of Bay City; William Farver of Portland, Oregon; Mrs. Harry Palmer, Jackson; Roy Farver, Mrs. Carl Eckfeld, Mrs. Bryan Johnson, Miss Grace Farver and Edna Farver all of Detroit; Mrs. Wm. Jackson, Flint; Arthur Farver of Saginaw and Edward of Ionia. Mrs. Farver passed most of her life in this vicinity. She was a member of the Unionville Baptist church for many years. Last fall she joined Bethany Chapter O.E.S. where her oldest brother, Louis Fittinger, with whom she had resided for the past two years was a life member.

She is also mourned by two other brothers, Herman Fittinger of Unionville, and Frank Fittinger of Harrington, Kansas, and two sisters, Mrs. Wm. Serry of Detroit, and Mrs. Charley Primm of Des Moines, Iowa. Fourteen grandchildren and one adopted grandchild are descendants.

Her funeral was largely attended at 2:00 o'clock Sunday at the Fittinger home, an unusually large number of the older residents attending and quite a number of the members of the Eastern Star were present.

Rev. Scheel preached a ? from the 23rd Psalm, and Rev, and Mrs. Scheel and daughter, Doris sang, "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere," Mrs. Edwin Eckfeld accompaning on the piano. Four of her childhood schoolmates, Edwin Eckfeld, James Campbell, George White and George Colling and two O.E.S. members, Wm. Russell and Jacob Schmidt acted as pall bearers. Burial in the Unionville cemetery. S. B. Achenbach funeral director.

Mrs. Farver's world had not been very large, but she enjoyed the friendship of many life long friends. She was the mother of a family of which she could be proud, all had been favored with good homes and associates and received good educations in the public schools, some taking up advanced training following lucrative vocations.

Her casket, standing in the southern bow window, was surrounded with exquisite and beautiful flowers mute and tender expressions of the respect in which she was held. Among the many pieces were the five point star of O.E.S. colors, a basket from neighbors, a spray from the Sewing Club, a lovely contribution from the Linden Club which she attended as a guest, and beautiful tributes from her children on this sad Mother's Day.

Among those who came to attend the funeral from out of town were: Miss Clara Aschard, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Campbell and daughter, Jane, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Serry, Mr. and Mrs. Bryan Johnson and sons, Raymond and Clayton, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Farver, Mr. and Mrs. Eckfeld, the Misses Grace and Edna Farver, Mrs. Hall, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Matkin, and Raymond Fittinger all of Detroit; Mrs. Martha Bacon Ypsilanti, Mrs. Chas. LESTER FARVER PASSED AWAY MONDAY EVENING

George Lester Farver, 67, a lifelong resident of this community, passed away at his home in Ashton at 8 o'clock Monday evening following an illness of several months.

Funeral services will be held this Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Cluts funeral home with Rev. Merle Hall, pastor of the Methodist church officating. Burial will be made in the Ashton cemetery.

Mr. Farver was born April 27, 1887 in Lafayette township, the son of Lloyd Farver and Mary Ann Kline. On Oct. 25, 1908 he was married to Fannie Bird and to this union were born four children, Harold, Edith, Kenneth and Raymond. Mrs. Farver died Oct. 8, 1936.

On Jan. 4, 1939 he married Miss Mary Haenitsch who passed away July 20, 1949.

For many years Mr. Farver operated a drying and trucking business in Ashton and served for a time on the Ashton fire department. He was a member of the Methodist church.

Surviving are his four children, Harold of LaSalle, Edith, Mrs. Kenneth Furman of Ashton, Kenneth of Ashton, Raymond of Franklin Grove; 12 grandchildren; two brothers, Perry and Guy both of Ashton; and a sister, Mrs. Anna Beach of Dixon. Two brothers, William and Oscar, preceded him in death.

MRS. MARGARET C. SHANER

Mrs. Margaret G. Shaner, 75, of 23 North Main Street, Muncy, formerly of Hughesville [Lycoming Co, Pennsylvania], died Monday, Oct. 9, 1972, in the Muncy Valley Hospital. Born Oct. 22, 1896, in Beech Haven, she was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Faver.

She was an employe of the former Vogue Lingerie Co. and the former R & G Knitting Mill.

Mrs. Shaner was a member of the Hughesville Baptist Church. She was the first Gold Star Mother of Hughesville during World War II. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Glenn Sharrow Post 35, and Rebekah Lodge 215, both of Hughesville.

Surviving are two sons, Verus W., of North Port Charlotte, Fla., and Richard A., of Muncy RD 2, six grandchildren and five greatgrandchildren. The funeral will *be at 2 p.m. Thursday at McCarty-Thomas', 557 East Water Street, Hughesville, with the Rev. Robert E. Berger, her pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Friends may .call at the funeral home from noon until the time of service Thursday.

As a shock not only to the family but to the entire community was the death at 3?:10 o'clock Saturday of Mrs. George J. Farver, one of the town's well known residents, which occurred at the Berwick hospital. On the 12th, of this month, Mrs. Farver underwent an operation from which she rallied and was apparently on the fair road to recovery. This morning she ate a hearty breakfast and was in exceptionally good spirits commenting on the fact that she could leave the hospital on Tuesday of next week. Stricken with heart trouble, her death came so sudden that her family, who were summoned at once, failed to arrive at the hospital before the end came.

Mrs. Farver was aged 33 years and was a native of Noxen, Luzerne county. Since her marriage twelve years ago she has been a resident of Berwick. She was a member of the First Presbyterian church. Besides her husband, she is survived by two children, Adrian, age 8 and Harriet aged 11. Her mother , Mrs. Catherine Smith, of Noxen and a brother, J. W. Smith, of Linden, and a sister, Mrs. Frank Zimmerman, of Wilkes-Barre, also survive.

Funeral services which will be private will be held at the house Monday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock and will be in charge of the Rev. J. C. Stuart, pastor of the First Presbyterian church. Interment will be made in Pine Grove cemetery. Friends desiring to view the body can do so Sunday evening between the hours of 6 and 9 and on Monday between the hours of 10 and 12 A.M.

LOIS L. (FARVER) LAUBACH

Lois Lucille (Farver) Laubach, 83, of Berwick, Columbia County, PA, wife of Glen E. Laubach, passed away Sunday, February 3, 2008 in Berwick Retirement Village II where she had resided for several weeks. She had been in failing health for years but suddenly worsened.

Born in Berwick on March 12, 1924, to Arle Robert "Bob" and Verna (Davis) Farver, she was the eldest of ten children.

Lois held many jobs but most fondly remembered her times as a telephone operator after World War II. Her family moved to the Lancaster, PA area in 1957 where she constructed leather shoes by hand at the Akron Shoe Factory and made watches and, later, fuses for black-powder explosive devices at the Hamilton Watch Company in Lancaster. In 1972, her family returned to Berwick where she kept books for their business, Glen's Garage, for the next 30 years.

Surviving Lois are her husband, Glen E. Laubach, daughter Polly A. Laubach-Eckrote, and son-in-law Mark C. Eckrote, all residing in Berwick; two sisters; six brothers; 40 nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held from the Heller Funeral Home, 633 East Third St., Nescopeck, PA, on Thursday at 2:00 PM with Lois' nephew, the Rev. James Farver, presiding. Burial will be in Rose Lawn Cemetery, Berwick. No calling hours. Walter E. Farver, eighty-one, 149 West Eighth St., Bloomsburg, died yesteday morning at six-ten at a Danville Hospital. He had been ill about 15 years. Born in Unionville, Michigan, he had resided in Bloomsburg for the past fifty-five years. Mr. Farver was a member of the Liberty Fire Co. and Fireman's Relief Association. Surviving are two sons, Melvin, Boomsburg and Eugene, Bristol, PA, one daughter, Mrs. Robert Eisenhauer, Sr., Bloomsburg, six grandchildren, two brothers, James C., Bloomsburg, and Benjamin H. of Flint, Michigan. Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at two from the Baker Funeral Home with the Rev. J. E. Whitney, pastor of the First Baptist Church, Bloomsburg, officiating. Burial will be in New Rosemont Cemetery.

Victoria Farver, widow of the late George Farver, died at her home near Benton Thursday evening about nine o'clock after a lengthy illness, death being caused by a complication of diseases. She was aged sixty-three years, eleven months and twenty-three days, and is survived by three children, two sons and a daughter, Reuben Farver, of Lancaster; Tustin Farver, of Jackson township, and Mrs. George Ruckle, of Berwick; two brothers and a sister. S.F. Davis, residing in the west; S. L. Davis, of Benton, and Mrs. John Lazarus, of Benton, also survive.

The funeral services will be conducted at her late residence Sunday morning at ten o'clock, Rev. Kahn, of Waller, officiating. Interment will be made in the Jackson cemetery.

Bright's disease caused the death Friday afternoon at 12:30 o'clock of Peter Farver, an aged resident of West Berwick, at his home in Michael's addition. He was aged 74 years. Mr. Farver had been confined to his bed for the past six weeks, suffering with the disease. He was born in Jackson township, later residing in Beaver Valley. During the Civil War he was employed in the pioneer service as a blacksmith. He resided until ten years ago at Beach Haven, when he moved to Berwick. He was married twice, his first wife being Miss Mann, of Beaver township. To this union two children were born, Theodore, of Muhlenburg and Mrs. Chas, Dechant, of Mt. Carmel. His second marriage took place to Miss Erwin, of Greenwood, and to this union three children were born, Vincent and John, of West Berwick, and Wm., who resides back of Shickshinny all of whom survive, together with his widow.

The death of Mrs. Peter Farver occurred yesterday at three o'clock at home of her daughter. Rev. H. R. Farver, of Ida street, West Berwick. Extrmittes(?) and advanced age were the cause.

Mrs. Farver was born 73 years ago in Greenwood township where she remained until 14 years ago when the family moved to Berwick. Her husband preceded her to the grave four years ago. Since that time she has been making her home with the children.

Four children, Vincent, William, John and Mrs. Gaylord Farver, of Berwick, and two step-children, Theodore and Annie Dechant, of Riverside, N. Y. survive. She was the last member of her family.

Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon at 3 o'clock from the home of her daughter. Rev. H. R. Wilkes, pastor of the Evangelical church, will officiate and interment will be made in Rose Lawn cemetery.

Funeral services for Mrs. Cora E. FARVER, of Flint, Michigan, were held yesterday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Kelchner funeral home, Berwick. The Rev. Mr. Hornbeck, pastor of St. Paul's E.U.B. Church, officiated.

The pastor read the hymns, "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere," "The End of the Road," and "Abide With Me." He also read the poems, "Be Ye Also Ready" and "Thought of Heaven." The pastor took his scripture from John 14, assorted verses; 121st Psalm; 39th Psalm and Ephesians 6:10-18 and Psalm 119, 105 and 112.

Pall-bearers were George Farver, Peter Farver, Clark Farver, William Farver, Irvin Farver, and Luther Dill. Interment was in Rose Lawn cemetery.

DEATH FOLLOWED TRAGIC ACCIDENT

Gaylord Farver, of Ida Street, Caught Beneath Overturned Hoist at Blacksmith Shop and Sustained Injuries Which Resulted in Death - Heart Trouble the Direct Cause of Death Which Came as He Talked With Nurse at Berwick Hospital.

As the result of injuries sustained in an acident at the blacksmith shop yesterday afternoon about three o'clock, Gaylord G. Farver, of Ida street, died two hours later at the Berwick hospital.

The accident occured when a barrel of forging was being loaded on an auto truck to be taken to another department. A steel tripod with chain hoist had been used to get the barrel to a heighth that it was thought the floor of the truck as it backed would go beneath it. The barrel, however, was not high enough by several inches. As the truck backed to it, the rear end caught the barrel which was pulled along as the truck went on back and toppled over the frame to which the hoist was attached. Mr. Farver saw the impending collapse of the tripod and ran in the direction that it was falling. He was caught when the steel beam struck his back and pinned him to the floor.

He was taken in a conscious condition to the emergency hospital and removed to the Berwick hospital. It was feared at first that his back had been broken but an x-ray examination showed this not to be the case. His ribs were broken and there is a possiblity that one of these had punctured the lung. His face was cut and bruised from the lung. His face was also cut and bruised from contact with the floor.

Dilation of the heart was the direct cause of his death. He had remained conscious and was talking with one of the nurses who was attending him when he suddenly expired.

Working with Mr. Farver were Harold McHenry, of East Fourth street, and Hiram Bower, of North Berwick, both of whom escaped.

Mr. Farver was a native of Fishing Creek, who has lived in Berwick since he was sixteen years of age when he went into the employ of Jackson-Woodin-Man factory (illegible) ?foundry. He was a member (illegible) lodge of Odd Fellows and of the Evangelical church on Orange street. He would have been 50 years old next December.

Surviving are his wife and the following children; Martha, at home; Alvin, in Wisconsin; Lloyd and Belford in Flint, Michigan, and Bradford, who is in the navy, stationed in California. The following brothers and sisters also survive: Orvis, of Berwick; Mrs. Frank Dill, of Berwick; Edward, of Berwick; Mrs. Cora Thompson, of Berwick, and Albert, of Atchiosn, Kansas.

Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at his late home on Ida street, in charge of Rev. R. S. Starr, pastor of St. Paul's Evangelical church. Interment will be made in Roselawn cemetery.

The funeral services of Gaylord Farver, of Ida street, were held at 2:30 o'clock yesterday afternoon and were exceptionally largely attended. The services were in charge of Rev. R. S. Starr, pastor of St. Paul's United Evangelical Church. During the services two selections were read "God Will Take Care of You" and "Some Day We'll Understand." The members of the I.O.O.F. lodge No. 246 attended the services in a body and conducted services at the grave. The floral tributes were many and beautiful.

The death of Mrs. H. O. Christian, of Thirteenth and Chestnut streets, Berwick, occurred at 6:20 o'clock last evening, after an illness of two years, during which she was confined to her bed for two and a half months. She was aged fifty-seven years. General complications was the cause of death.

Mrs. Christian was born in Briar Creek and had been a resident of this vicinity her entire life. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church. Her husband, who served as president and a member of the Berwick council, survives as do the following daughters, Mrs. James Stout, of Danville; Mrs. Lloyd Farver, of Flint, Mich. Seven grandchildren survive as do the following brothers and sisters: Frank Sponenberg, of Berwick; Mrs. Samuel Oliver, of Bridgeport, Conn; and Mrs. Frank Nace, of Trenton, N.J.

Services will be held at two o'clock on Saturday afternoon at the Kelchner funeral home and will be in charge of Rev. F. L. Mammig, pastor of St. John's Lutheran Church. Interment will be made in Pine Grove cemetery.

After having been in ill health for several years, Harry O. Christian, 69, former president of Berwick Council, died yesterday morning at 12:15 o'clock. He had been confined to bed for a week at his Chestnut street home.

Mr. Christian, a native of Berwick, had spent his entire life here. He had served two terms as a member of Borough Council and was president during his second term. The local man was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. He was formerly employed by the Wise Company and had operated a self service-station for many years but had been retired for some time due to ill health.

Surivors include his wife, two daughters, Mrs. James Stout, Baltimore, Md. and Mrs. Lloyd Farver, Flint, Mich.; two sisters, Mrs. Laura Yohey, Berwick, and Miss Kathryn Rittenhouse, Bloomsburg; seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and eight stepchildren.

Services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 3 o'clock from the Kelchner Funeral Home with the Rev. G. P. Cooley officiating. Friends may call Tuesday evening between 7 and 9 o'clock. Interment will be made in Pine Grove Cemetery, Market Street.

Morenci Observer: - Amanda Chichester Pegg was born in town of Wilson, Niagara county, New York, April 27, 1826, and died at her residence in Dover April 4, 1911, making her age 85 years lacking a few days.

She was married to Samuel Pegg August 13, 1849, and five children, H. D. Pegg of Morenci, Miles Pegg, a druggist at Belleville, F. D. Pegg of Morenci, and the Misses Dora and Cora Pegg, who have been with their mother on the farm, survive the good mother. The husband died some 25 years ago.

Deceased came to Michigan in 1833, making her home in Tecumseh. In the early days she was one of the county teachers and dispensed learning in the schools at Wamplers and Evans lakes.

The first years of her married life were spent in Adrian, city and township, the family, moving to Morenci in 1853, and in 1870 they moved to Dover.

Her life was full of goodness and her interest in boys and girls continued long after she reached the allotted three score years and ten. She was a Christian lady and was affiliated with the Presbyterian denomination at Clayton.

A. Irven Farver, 88, of RR 1, Stillwater, died Wednesday in Penn State Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Township.

He was born May 25, 1911, son of the late William A. and Virginia (Long) Farver.

Mr. Farver was self-employed as a farmer in the Stillwater area. He attended the Assembly of God Church, Sunshine.

Sisters, Beulah Benscoter, Edna Simmons, Leona Wolfe, and brothers, Harland, Joseph, Raymond, Paul, Otis, preceded him in death.

Surviving are his wife, the former Irma Schooley; son, Alton, RR 1, Stillwater; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sisters, Marian Wagner, Lawrenceville; Geraldine De Wald, Michigan.

Mrs. Cora Thompson, of Vine Street, Berwick died at 6:45 o'clock Saturday night following a stroke of paralysis which confined her to her bed for three days. Mrs. Thompson was born in Grovania and spent the most of her life in Berwick. Following the death of her husband in 1918, a photographer, Mrs. Thompson, opened a cut rate drug store on Market St., Berwick in 1921 which she conducted afterward until the time of her death, being well known.

She was a member of the First Methodist Church, Daughters of the Rebekah Lodge and the Women's Relief Corps all of Berwick. Two children, Anneta and Allen both at home, and a sister, Mrs. Frank Dill, of East Seventh St., Berwick and two brothers, Albert A. Farver, of Kansas and Edward E. Farver, of Berwick, survive. Funeral services which will be held at the Seriff funeral home, Berwick at three o'clock Tuesday afternoon and will be in charge of the Rev. Eulalia P. Farver, 86, Ocean City, New Jersey, died Thursday, Dec. 7, 2000,at the Shore Memorial Hospital, Somers Point, N.J. Born in Rupert on Sept. 14, 1914, she had been a resident of Ocean City for the past 31 years.

Farver was a co-owner of the former Farver's Men's Clothing in Berwick. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Ocean City. Organizations to which Farver belonged were the Ocean City Colony Club, the Garden Civic Association of Ocean City and the Order of the Eastern Star of Berwick.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Adrian R. Farver, on Dec. 3, 2000. Her funeral service will be Monday at 10 a.m. from the Godfrey Funeral Home of Ocean City, 809 Central Ave., Ocean City, N.J. Burial will be Tuesday at noon in Pine Grove Cemetery, Berwick.

Lloyd Farver, a long time resident of this community passed away at the home of his son, Jessie Guy Farver, north of Franklin Grove, Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock, his death being due to a recent stroke and the infirmities of old age. Mr Farver was born in Pennsylania June 27, 1851 and had reached the age of 82 years, four months and 15 days.

He was united in marriage to Miss Mary Ann Kline on August 6, 1870 in Columbia County, Pennsylvania, and with his young bride, in the early 1870's, came to Lee County to make their new home.

Since 1876, they spent practically all their time in Ashton Township, and in 1914 retired to the village to make their home.

Mr Farver, on account of failing health, gave up his active life several years ago and made his home with his son, Jessie Guy Farver, north of Franklin Grove. In 1920, Mr and Mrs Farver had the privilege of celebratng their golden wedding anniversary, when they received the congratulations of many relatives, neighbors and friends. Mrs Farver died in 1922.

Mr Farver is the last member of a family of twelve children. Surviving him are his six children: William Farver, Mrs Anna Beach, Oscar Farver of McKeesport, Pennsylvania, Perry, George Lester and Jessie Guy. There are 17 grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

He was a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church, joining in 1890 under the pastorship of Rev George M Bassett.

Funeral services were held yesterday at 2 o'clock from the home of his son, Jessie Guy Farver, the services being conducted by Rev Charles D Wilson. Interment took place in the Ashton Cemetery.

Lewis B. Dill, 1315 Pine St., Berwick, collapsed as he enterd the gate leading to his home at 4:30 o'clock and died immediately. A physician was summoned but death was instant and was caused by a heart attack. Mr. Dill had completed his day's work as a laborer in the machine shop of the American Car & Foundry Company and enjoyed his usual good health and his death came as a severe shock.

He was born in Berwick where he spent his entire life. He was born Aug. 14, 1895 and was accordingly aged forty-seven years. He was a member of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Sunday School and also attended the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church. His wife, Anna E. Dill, together with a daughter, Norma Jean Dill and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Dill, of Berwick, a twin sister, Lula Dill, and sister, Mrs. Warren McKamey, both of Berwick and Gaylord Dill, and Mrs. George Powlus, of Phila. , Charles Dill who address is unknown and Luther Dill, of Berwick.

Funeral services will be held at two o'clock on Friday afternoon at the Longenberger funeral home, Berwick, with the Rev. A. W. Smith, pastor of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church officating. Burial will bemade in Pine Grove Annex.

He was a member of the First Methodist Church.

Harriet K. McKamey, 94, of 106 E Ninth St., Berwick, died Tuesday evening, March 14, 1995, at the home of her daughter, Frances Roll. Born Sept. 8, 1900, in Berwick, she was a daughter of the late Frank H. And Eva Farver Dill. During World War II, she worked at AC&F Industries. She previously worked at the Baer Silk Mill, Berwick, for many years. She also worked at the Master Silk Mill, Berwick. She was a member of the Bethany United Methodist Church. Mrs. McKamey was a former member of the Dames of Malta. She was well known for her seamstress work, which she did from her home.

Her husband, Warren C. McKamey, died in 1962. A daughter, Kathryn A. Sitler died in 1969. Surviving are two daughters: Mrs. Derl (Jane) Hess, Guilderland, NY and Mrs. Michael (Frances) Roll, Berwick; a son Warren F. McKamey, Williamsport, seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Eight brothers and sisters died previously. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. from the James L. Hinckey Jr. Funeral Home, Berwick, with the Rev. Daniel L. Dennis, her pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Walnut St., Berwick.

Born in Berwick, Oct. 4, 1926, he was a son of the late George J. and Isabelle Moody Farver Thompson. A graduate of Berwick High School, Mr. Farver attended Penn State University for several years. He worked as a draftsman for several aeronautical companies in Connecticut and Philadelphia before returning to the Berwick area in 1970. Most recently, Mr. Farver worked part-time for the Berwick Area School District.
An active member of Berwick Elks, he was a social member of both the Maria Assunta Society and the Berwick Rangers Hose Co.
He was preceded in death by a stepbrother, Adrian R. Farver and a stepsister, Harriet Auker. Surviving is his wife, the former Marie Esposito, at home. Also surviving are step daughters Donna M. Daley, Bluemont, Va.; Cheryl A. Garcia, Scottsdale, Ariz.; Mary E. Stout, Berwick; and six step-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Heller Funeral Home, Nescopeck. The Rev. Prudenville resident Richard R. Farver, 79, died Aug. 15, 2005 at King Nursing Centre. Mr. Farver was born in Detroit, July 27, 1926, the son of Roy and Lavina (Baer) Farver. He was married May 28, 1960 to Arbadella McDermott, in West Highland. He had been coming to Prudenville for 15 years from Brighton.

He was retired from General Motors. He was a U. S. Navy veteran and a member of the Houghton Lake Eagles.

Survivors include his wife, Della Farver of Prudenville and a sister, Janet (Rick) Rikley of Florida.

Don was employed by the Peet Packing Company in Bay City for many years and later worked as a Real Estate Agent in Saginaw. His enjoyments included his family, especially his grandchildren and hunting and fishing. Thomas H. Farver, 84, Elkton, died Wednesday evening in Hubbard memorial hospital, Bad Axe, after a short illness.

He was born October 2, 1881 and was a life - long resident of Chandler township, Huron county. He was a thrasher and farmer all his life, a member of the Methodist church, Elkton and a one time member of the school board, Chandler township.

Mr. Farver and Elizabeth Nelson were united in marriage September 23, 1903. She died September 2, 1958.

Survivors are three sons, Floyd, Henry and Clifford, all of Elkton; seven daughters, Mrs. Bertha Gilbert, of Keego Harbor, Mrs. Flossie Maynard, Filion, Mrs. Bessie Furness of Elkton, Mrs. Luella Conners, Filion, Mrs. Ula Snider, Elkdon, Mrs. Helen Wichert, Bay Port and Mrs. Lila Wilson, Elkton; twenty-nine grandchildren; and thirty-three great grandchildren.

Elkton - Mrs. Elizabeth Farver, 75, wife of Thomas Farver, died today at her home. She had been in ill health the past three months.

Mrs. Farver had been chosen in May as 1958 Mother of the Year in Huron county in a contest conducted by the Bad Axe radio station.

The former Elizabeth Nelson, she was born Jan. 13, 1883, in Meade township and was a lifelong resident of Huron county. She was married Sept. 23, 1903. She and Mr. Farver would have observed their 55th wedding anniversary this month.

Mrs. Farver is survived by her husband, seven daughters, Mrs. Clayton Gilbert, Sault Ste. Marie, Mrs. Charles Maynard, Kinde, Mrs. Clifford Connors, Filion, Mrs. Alfred Wichert, Bay Port, Mrs. Roy Furness, Mrs. Orville H. Snider and Mrs. James Wilson, all of Elkton; three sons, Floyd, Henry and Clifford, all of Elkton; 18 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren and four sisters, Mrs. Lillian Schram, Bay City, and Mrs. Clara Leiby, Mrs. Anna Wright and Mrs. Mabel Ward, all of Kinde.

Thomas Farver, age 65, passed away Wednesday, May 29 at the Scheurer Hospital in Pigeon following a years illness.

He was born September 9, 1902 at Elkton. On September 25, 1924 he was united in marriage to Ethel Hazard at Elkton. Mr. Farver and his son Wallace owned and operated the Fairhaven Industrial Wood Products near Bay Port.

Mr. Farver is survived by his wife, Ethel; one daughter, Mrs. Wallace (Alice) Hart of Caseville; four sons, Wallace and William, both of Caseville, Lyle of Ida, and Richard of Scottville; 14 grandchildren; also his mother, Mrs. Emma Meyers, Elkton.

Dorothy M. Farver, age 88, life long resident of Elkton, died Tuesday morning, February 12, at her home while under hospice care.

She was born December 29, 1913 in Bad Axe, to the late Edward and Leah (Mousseau) Furness.

On January 24, 1931, she was united in marriage to Floyd L. Farver at the Methodist parsonage in Marlette, They made their home on a farm in Chandler Twp. north of Elkton. In addition to helping on the farm and raising her family, she had been a cook at Elkton Elementary for over 15 years, retiring in 1971.

She was a member of the Elkton United Methodist Church and Ladies Aid, past member Century Oaks Golf Club and Elkton Euchre Club. She enjoyed golf, cooking and baking for her family, and had wintered in Florida for 20 years.

Surviving are her husband of 71 years, Floyd; three sons, Bruce (Betsy) Farver of Elkton, Ronald (Marge) Farver of Elkton and Merlin (Rose) Farver of Bad Axe; two daughters, Sandra (Art) Carpenter of Holiday, FL and Margie (John) Kanaski of Elkton. Also, 16 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, 15 great great grandchildren; her brother, Stanford (Bernice) Furness of Elkton and her sister-in-law, Hazel Furness of Arizona.

Preceding her in death were three brothers, Clifford, Roy and Burton Furness and a sister, Jeanette Furness.

Henry T. J. Farver, 90, of Elkton died Tuesday morning, Dec. 12, 2006 at Home Sweet Home in Pigeon.

He was born Oct. 5, 1916 at the home of his parents, the late Thomas and Elizabeth (Nelson) Farver in Chandler Township.

Henry grew up on a farm and in 1942 he joined the U.S. Navy serving on the USS California and the USS Thetis Bay in the Asiatic Pacific.

He returned to Elkton in 1945. On Aug. 2, 1947, he was united in marriage to Marguerite Steinman Schaaf at the First Methodist Church in Pigeon.

Henry lived and farmed in Chandler Twp. all his life. He had also worked at Alton Manufacturing in Pigeon for 15 years. He was a member of the Elkton United Methodist Church, the Carpenter-Dorsch VFW Post No. 6013, Elkton, and enjoyed deer hunting and ice fishing.

Surviving are five sons, Thomas (Janette) Farver of Elkton, Glen (Ardra) Schaaf of Pigeon, Leo (Patricia) Schaaf of Greensboro, N.C., Carl (Georgia) Schaaf of Beaufort, S.C., and Berten Schaaf of Pigeon; his daughter-in-law, Mary Popham of Bad Axe; 10 grandchildren, Tom (Lynn) Farver and Tanette Farver, John (Debbie) Schaaf, Becki (Paul) DiPasquale, Angie (Jason) Lewis, Lesley (Justin) Lang, Scott (Elizabeth) Schaaf, Courtney Schaaf and Nathan Schaaf, Ryan (Julia) Schaaf. Marguerite A. Farver, 84, of Elkton died Tuesday morning, Sept. 20, 2005, at Home Sweet Home in Pigeon.

She was born April 4, 1921, in Chandler Township and lived in the township all of her life. Her parents Edwin and Cora Steinman preceded her in death.

On Feb. 1, 1941, she was united in marriage to Arnold Schaaf at the Methodist parsonage in Bay Port. He preceded her in death Dec. 2, 1945. Two years later, on Aug. 2, 1947, she married Henry T. J. Farver at the First Methodist Church of Pigeon.

After raising her 5 sons, Marguerite became a nurse's aide at Sunny Acres Nursing Center when it first opened in 1965. She retired in 1995, with 30 years of service. She was a member of the Elkton United Methodist Church and a past member of the Elkton VFW Auxiliary. Marguerite enjoyed spending her free time at the Lunch Bucket visiting with friends and traveling.

On June 26, 1953, she was united in marriage to Alford Wichert at the Elkton Methodist Church. Helen lived in Huron County all her life.

She was a life long member of the Elkton United Methodist Church and was a devoted wife and mother. Helen was a very aggressive genealogist; she traced the family trees of not only her family and her husband's, but many of the Chandler Twp. neighbors. If you wanted to know who was who from home, Helen could tell you. She would also pass the time by knitting and crocheting many beautiful things. Surviving are her husband, Alford; two sons, Thomas of Elkton and James (Bev); six grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Mrs. Snider, age 93 years, died Sunday morning in Bad Axe. On October 30, 1942, she was united in marriage to Orville Snider, he preceded her in death August 31, 2001.
Surviving are two children, Terry (Darlene) Snider of Bay City and Kay (Ken) Thumme of Elkton; four grandchildren: Kari (Scott) Briesmiester of Elkton, Korney (Michelle) Thumme of Essexville, Cory Snider and Jordan Snider of Bay City; two great grandchildren, Logan and Madison Briesmiester; two brothers, Floyd Farver and Clifford Farver and two sisters, Flossie Maynard and Luella Connors.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday at the Elkton United Methodist Church. with burial in Riverside Cemetery, Elkton. Friends may call at the Champagne Funeral Chapel, Elkton from 3 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and at the church after 10 a.m. Wednesday. Memorials may be given to the Activities Fund at the Huron County Medical Care facility or the American Diabetes Assn.

Melvin F. Farver, age 75 of Pigeon (Caseville Twp.) passed away Sunday, Feb 16 at Scheurer Hospital in Pigeon.

Mr. Farver was born in Chandler Township on Nov. 1, 1916, son of the late Clarence and Lucile (Cox) Farver. On Feb. 20, 1938 he married Meta A. Trost at Cross Lutheran Church in Pigeon.

He owned Farver Sand & Gravel until 1959, then was employed with rooney Construction and the Elkton DPW, retiring from the DPW after 15 years of service. He was a former member of the Elkton Sportsman's Club and a member of Cross Lutheran Church, Pigeon.

Survivors include his wife, Meta A.; two daughters, Mrs. Janalou (David) Blecke, Saginaw and Mrs. Karen A. (Jack) Hippe, Royal Oak; four grandchildren; one step-grandson; one great-granddaughter and one brother, Leonard Farver, Deming, N.M.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Elmer Farver. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, Feb 19 at 3 p.m. from Cross Lutheran Church. Rev. Raymond E. Orth, pastor, will officiate with burial in the church cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Cross Lutheran Church or Scheurer Hospital. Visitation hours were set at the Meyersieck-Bussema Funeral Home, on Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 1 to 5 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m.; at Cross Lutheran Church on Wednesday from 2 p.m. until the time of service.
