Services for Gard T James, 74, Lane, who died Tuesday at the Anderson County Hospital, will be at 2 p.m., Friday at the Dengel and Son Mortuary with burial in the Lane Cemetery. Rev. Paul Pentz will officiate.
James was born Sept. 14, 1899, in Lane, the son of George W. and Laura Alice (Hickman) James. He was married Sept. 29, 1926, in Beloit [Mitchell Co], Kansas to Florence Farver, who survives.
A lifelong resident of the Lane and Green Valley areas, he was a farmer and stockman. A veteran of World War I, he attended Kansas State University and was a member of the Farm House Fraternity. He was a past member and officer of the Joint 10 School Board of Lane, Pottawatomie Township Board, founder of the Pottawatomie Valley 4-H Club, and county committeeman of ASCA office of Franklin County. He attended the United Methodist Church.
Besides his wife of the home, he is survived by a son, Albert James, Lane; two sisters, Mrs. Bessie Morgan, Portales, N. M., and Mrs. Neva McDougal Lane; two brothers, Fred James, Ketchum, Okla., and Clifford James, Princeton, and four grandchildren. One brother, Clark James, preceded him in death.
Friends may call at the mortuary from Wednesday evening until time of services.
